How to start Power Lines

Quick answer

Complete Arish's Briefing and speak with Arish at the Field Office in Central.

Power Lines opens right after Arish's Briefing and becomes one branch of Notes: Plan of Attack.

Why it matters: the CFD needs the city's power back to hold Manhattan, so Arish sends you to bring the subway grid online.

How station calibration works

Every station uses the same pieces. Learn them once here instead of re-reading them at each station.

Calibration Unit

A portable device used to tune the station.

  • Box-like shape
  • Shows a map marker when you are near
  • Fits on a yellow placement square

Every station uses the same object, so learn this shape once.

Tuning Device

The station's dial. When every Calibration Unit sits on the right square, activate it to reroute the station.

Power Charge

Take the charge, carry it to an inactive core, and deposit it to power or open part of the route.

Mold

Mold is not always an enemy here. Some growths block you, and some carry the current.

Blocking Mold

Destroy

Covers a route or a placement square and stops the puzzle.

Conductive Mold

Do not destroy

Carries power to the Tuning Device. Destroying it cuts the connection.

  2. Open the shutter using the power charge
  3. Place the units on the marked squares

Where it is
East of the Field Office in Central.
How to enter
Take the station entrance east of the Field Office and head underground.
Find the Calibration Units
Three Calibration Units are inside the station. One sits behind a shutter you open by moving the power charge.
Correct placement
Place each unit on its marked yellow square. The squares are fixed, so match each unit to a square instead of lining them up.
Activate the Tuning Device
With all three units on their squares, activate the central Tuning Device.
Success state
  • The machine indicator changes
  • The station objective updates
  • The power grid tracker advances
Common mistake

Treating Perimeter like a straight line. It is a placement puzzle, and each unit belongs on its own square.

Factory Station

  1. Find the 3 Calibration Units
  2. Line them up with the device
  3. Activate the device

Enter the Factory station and head down to the tracks.
Find the Calibration Units
Three units: one near the entrance, one in the tunnel, and one beside the train.
Correct placement
Set the three units in one straight line that feeds into the Tuning Device.
Activate the Tuning Device
Once the line is unbroken, activate the Tuning Device.
Success state
  • The machine indicator changes
  • The station objective updates
  • The power grid tracker advances
Common mistake

Leaving one unit off the line. Factory is alignment, not placement.

East Park Station

Mold + teleport puzzle

Quick solution
  1. Destroy the Mold over the placement spots
  2. Collect the reachable Calibration Units
  3. Use the Tuning Device
  4. Reach the gated unit
  5. Open the gate from inside
  6. Place all three units
  7. Activate the station

Can't reach the last Calibration Unit?

That is intentional. Clear the required Mold, use the Tuning Device, and let it drop you inside the locked area, then open it from the inside.

Destroy the Mold covering the placement spots first.
How to enter
One Calibration Unit is sealed in a gated area.
Activate the Tuning Device
Use the Tuning Device. Its off-target calibration sends Dylan into the gated area.
Correct placement
Open the gate from the inside, carry the unit back, then place all three units.
Success state

  • The power grid tracker advances
Common mistake

Trying to reach the gated unit before using the Tuning Device, or skipping the Mold.

The Vanished Station

The three stations are done. From here the route becomes one ordered chain.

This is part of the quest. Do not reload. Follow the station sequence and take the newly available subway route.

When the required stations are online, the way out changes on purpose. That is the quest moving you toward the Vanished Station.

  2. Restore the necessary power
  3. Open the route to the Calibration Unit
  4. Clear the blocking Mold
  5. Place both units
  6. Calibrate Platform A

Platform B

Platform B is a power-and-Mold state puzzle. The Mold over the wires must stay; the Mold over the pads must go.

  • Power Platform B again to regrow the conductive Mold.
  • Keep the Mold over both wires. It conducts the power.
  • Clear the Mold from both placement pads.

Final station encounter

Calibrating Platform B triggers a fresh Mold wave. If a stronger named enemy appears, stay alive and clear the arena before you head back to the survivors.

Both platforms calibrated does not finish the quest. Return to the survivors and speak with Dr. Florez.
