Crossing the Threshold is a Central side story. It begins during an investigation around the Field Office, but sources describe the first activation differently, so treat the exact trigger as a discovery step.

- 01Phase 1
Start the Investigation
Pick up the headless-body trail around the Field Office and register the quest.
- Reach Central and search the Field Office area for the investigation scene.
- Inspect the body and the camera to create the CCTV lead.
- Open the evidence tracker and keep both trails in view.
Look for · Headless FBC casualties and the first CCTV lead near the Loading Docks.
- 02Phase 2
Close Both Evidence Trails
The Loading Docks and the Field Hospital are two trails that must both be closed.
- At the Loading Docks, inspect the scene and its camera to raise the CCTV objective.
- At the Field Hospital, find the locked cabinet and note that it needs a code.
- Use the Security Station for both the CCTV footage and the archive cabinet code.

Knowing the code is not the same as opening the cabinet; you must still return and use it.

Investigate the Dig Site
Report the body at the Dig Site Threshold, take the keycard and search the research station.
- At the Dig Site Threshold, report and inspect the body.
- Take the Mobile Research Station Keycard from the body.
- Open the elevated TE-clearance building, then read the recording and note inside.

Dig Site ThresholdReport the body, take the keycard and open the research station.

Collecting the keycard is a quest-progress item, not a separate item entity.

Find Wilson
Clear the warehouse Hiss and reach Wilson through the north door.
- Head northeast from the Dig Site to the warehouse.
- Clear the Hiss encounter: this is a combat gate, not the quest's main event.
- Take the north door and speak to Wilson.
Look for · The warehouse entrance northeast of the Dig Site.

This fight is a gate before the choice, not a boss hunt, so bring a normal loadout.

Make the AVP-3 Choice
Decide what happens to AVP-3; the outcome changes the rewards you keep.
- Tell Wilson whether you believe him.
- Choose the final action: host AVP-3, or contain it.
- On the reward route, host AVP-3 and return it to the Dig Site Threshold.
Look for · The final Wilson conversation and the nearby AVP-3 host site.
The AVP-3 choice
This choice is reward-sensitive. One route gives the unique reward pair; the others complete the quest without it.
Choose
- Believe Wilson.
- Then say "I'll take him" and host AVP-3 yourself.
Avoid
- Accusing Wilson.
- Quarantine or containment.
- Believing him, then choosing containment anyway.
Final action
Quest completes, but you do not receive the unique reward pair.
Your exact dialogue options use the game's own localized strings. This page only explains which route gives which outcome.
Take AVP-3 into Dylan and return it to the Threshold.
- 1After Wilson agrees, interact with the nearby host site.
- 2AVP-3 transfers to Dylan: this is a host state, not an inventory item.
- 3Carry it back south to the Dig Site Threshold.
Hosting AVP-3 is what unlocks the unique reward path.
Go back to the same Dig Site and step into the large yellow Threshold area.
There is no puzzle here: stand inside the yellow Threshold zone and the transfer happens automatically, completing the quest.
The containment route resolves near the Dig Site as well, but it does not grant the unique rewards.
Rewards
The unique reward pair is tied to the choice, so keep quest completion separate from reward eligibility.

Whether the Untapped Practice Knot is a direct artifact or an artifact recipe is still being verified; the display name is confirmed.
Choosing containment, accusing Wilson, or believing him and then containing AVP-3 still completes the quest, but it does not give Sensory Restraint Hood or Untapped Practice Knot.

Where are you stuck?

If you believed him but chose containment, the quest still finishes but the unique reward pair is not awarded. That branch is working as intended, not a bug.
