ArtifactBug Spray
Bug Spray is a target-family Artifact: against Mold enemies it raises Damage and Falter at the same time, but Dylan receives twice as much Infected buildup. It is a strong answer to one specific enemy family, not a universal offense upgrade.

Bug Spray Overview
Bug Spray is a conditional offensive Artifact built around one enemy family. While the current target is Mold, it raises both Damage and Falter by 30%, so it pressures the enemy's Health and its posture at the same time. The cost is a defensive vulnerability rather than a lost stat: Dylan takes twice as much Infected buildup. That makes Bug Spray a targeted counter — very efficient against Mold, inactive against everything else, and risky wherever Infected is already a threat.
The bonus only checks the target's family. If the encounter has no Mold enemy, there is no offensive bonus at all, only the tradeoff stays on Dylan.
Bug Spray Effect and Tradeoff
Two offensive axes up, one defensive axis down.
Against a Mold target, Bug Spray adds 30% Damage and 30% Falter at once. Most damage Artifacts change a single axis; Bug Spray changes two. Its cost is not a stat on the same axes — it is a status vulnerability on Dylan, so the tradeoff shows up in how fast Infected builds on you, not in a smaller Damage number.
Damage
+30%
Falter
+30%
Infected buildup received ×2
More Infected pressure, not more Damage taken. It only affects the speed at which Infected accumulates on Dylan.
- 1 · Target is a Mold enemy
The condition is the target's enemy family, not your Health, your ability or a one-time trigger.
- 2 · Damage +30%
Attacks against a Mold target deal 30% more Damage. The verified damage scope is confirmed against the shipped game.
- 3 · Falter +30%
The same attacks also build 30% more Falter against that Mold target.
- 4 · Infected buildup received ×2
On Dylan, incoming Infected buildup is doubled while Bug Spray is equipped.
Damage and Falter stay separate axes: Bug Spray is not a single 'offense +60%' value, and whether other damage sources inherit the bonus is confirmed against the shipped game.
What Counts as a Mold Enemy?
Mold is an enemy family, read from the enemy registry.
Mold is not a size, a location or a look — it is the target's enemy family. An enemy either belongs to the Mold family in the game's enemy data or it does not, and Bug Spray reacts only to that classification. Because the check is per target, a mixed encounter activates the bonus only while you are hitting a Mold enemy.
Mold enemy
Bug Spray activeAttacks against this target gain +30% Damage and +30% Falter.
Non-Mold enemy
No bonusThe target is not in the Mold family, so Bug Spray adds nothing against it.
Mold is a family, not a class
Enemy family and enemy class are different dimensions. A target can be Mold and Standard, Mold and Heavy, or Mold and something else. Bug Spray keys off the family; an Artifact like Practice Knot keys off the class. The two conditions can be true on the same enemy without being the same condition.
Mold is not a visual guess
Do not decide from a green model, spores or a fungus-like design. Only a target confirmed as Mold in the enemy data triggers the bonus. Guessing from appearance is how an Anti-Mold build ends up buffing nothing.
Bosses and The Collective
A boss only qualifies if its registry entry is confirmed as Mold. A boss being located in The Park is not proof of its family. Until a boss such as The Collective is confirmed Mold, treat Bug Spray's bonus against it as unverified.
The confirmed Mold family list, and any boss that also counts as Mold, are published only after the enemy registry verifies them.
Which Damage Does Bug Spray Boost?
Damage scope is verified against the shipped game, not third-party wording.
Most Artifact listings describe the effect as +30% Damage and Falter against Mold enemies. Some recent vendor coverage instead writes it as Blunt Damage and Falter. The two are not the same claim: a generic Damage bonus reaches more sources than a Blunt-only bonus. This site keeps the scope open until the production modifier registry confirms which one the Artifact actually modifies.
+30% Damage and Falter vs Mold
Not yet confirmed
If the production data instead scopes the bonus to Blunt Damage, the wider cases would not apply. Until then, do not publish either scope as fixed.
The number 30% is consistent across recent sources; the damage scope is not. Treat the scope as verified only against the production modifier registry.
Infected Buildup Explained
Buildup is not the same as the active effect.
Bug Spray doubles the rate Dylan receives Infected buildup. It does not double Infected damage, Infected duration or the active penalty, and it does not make an enemy infect you instantly. Buildup is the meter that fills toward the Infected state; doubling it means you reach that state sooner from the same sources, not that the state itself becomes twice as strong.

Unchanged
Incoming to Dylan
The drawback is described from Dylan's side: it changes what you receive, not what you inflict. Effects that apply Infected to enemies are a different direction and are not strengthened by Bug Spray.
Managing the Infected Downside
The tradeoff has counters, but the exact net result is not published.
Bug Spray's tradeoff is an incoming-status vulnerability, so status-resistance Artifacts are the natural answer. Face Mask targets Infected buildup specifically; Worn Eraser reduces negative-status buildup more broadly. Both work in the opposite direction to Bug Spray, so pairing them is sensible whenever the Infected risk matters more than the extra offensive slot.
Face Mask
Raises resistance to Infected specifically, slowing the buildup that Bug Spray doubles. It is the most direct counter to the downside.
Worn Eraser
Reduces negative-status buildup across the board, so it also touches Infected. Broader, but not Infected-specific.
Whether Face Mask cancels Bug Spray completely depends on the resistance value and the order modifiers are applied, which is confirmed against the shipped game before any net number is published.
Bug Spray vs Molding Bar
Two Mold specializations, two different costs.
Both Artifacts specialize against Mold, but they pay for it differently. Bug Spray buys offense with an Infected vulnerability; Molding Bar pairs Mold offense with Infected immunity and a Health restriction. Which one is better depends on whether the risk you cannot afford is Infected or a capped Health bar — not on a single power number.
| Aspect | Bug Spray | Molding Bar |
|---|---|---|
| Target | Mold enemies | Mold enemies |
| Damage | +30% vs Mold | Increased vs Mold (value unverified) |
| Falter | +30% vs Mold | Increased vs Mold (value unverified) |
| Infected | Buildup received ×2 | Infected immunity |
| Main cost | Status vulnerability | Health capped at 50% |
| Acquisition | Central Vendor (Vendor Level III) | Park vendor (per current references) |
| Philosophy | High-risk offense | Mold specialization with a Health restriction |
Molding Bar's exact Damage and Falter values, and its full tradeoff, are confirmed against the shipped game before they are treated as fixed. Do not rank the two Artifacts on unverified numbers alone.
Not the same kind of tradeoff
Other Artifacts also pair a bonus with a cost, but the cost sits on a different axis. Reading them as if they were all the same 'offense for downside' trade would hide what actually changes.
- Golden Earrings
A combat-axis tradeoff: Falter up, Damage down. No target condition and no status risk.
- Brass Dusters
Combat Ability Damage up, Ability Falter removed. It changes which axis an ability uses, not the enemy family.
- Practice Knot
A target-class condition: +15% Falter against Heavy enemies, with no listed downside. Bug Spray's condition is the family instead.
How Bug Spray Connects
One condition, two offense gains, one status risk.
Bug Spray sits where the Mold family, the Damage axis, the Falter axis and the Infected status meet. The relations below explain why it interacts with the mitigation Artifacts and the Mold specialization peer; they are not a verified stacking result.
| Relation | Why |
|---|---|
Mold enemy family Activation condition | The whole bonus is active only while the current target is in the Mold family. |
Face Mask Downside mitigation | Directly opposes the doubled Infected buildup by raising Infected resistance. |
Worn Eraser Broad downside mitigation | Reduces negative-status buildup broadly, so it also eases the Infected vulnerability. |
Feeding Bottle Risky status activation relation | Bug Spray can make Infected easier to reach, which may reach Feeding Bottle's activation sooner — but the status risk behind it grows too. |
Practice Knot Target-conditional peer | A target class condition instead of a family condition; on a Mold Heavy enemy, both conditions can be true at once. |
Molding Bar Direct alternative | The same Mold specialization with a different cost: Infected immunity and a Health cap instead of a status vulnerability. |
Bug Spray Loop

Damage and Falter up

The last step is optional: mitigation reduces the downside, it does not remove the condition.
These are relationships derived from shared mechanics, not verified stacking numbers. Combined Damage, Falter and Infected results are confirmed in-game before they are published.
Is Bug Spray Worth It?
Strong against Mold, inert against everything else.
Bug Spray's value depends on two questions at once: how much of the fight is Mold, and whether you can absorb the extra Infected. Answer both before equipping it — a Mold-heavy fight you cannot survive is not a good Bug Spray fight.
Good fit when
The encounter is dominated by Mold enemies
The more verified Mold targets you fight, the more often both bonuses apply.
You value Damage and Falter together
Bug Spray is one of the few Artifacts that raises both offensive axes at once.
You want more posture breaks
The extra Falter can turn into faster staggers and control openings against Mold targets.
You can manage Infected buildup
Strong status avoidance or an Infected-resistance Artifact keeps the doubled buildup in check.
Mold targets survive long enough for both axes to matter
A fight long enough for Damage and Falter to both pay off gets the most from the Artifact.
You specifically want an anti-Mold Artifact
When Mold is the problem, a targeted counter beats a generic stat slot.
Lower value when
The encounter has few or no Mold enemies
With no Mold target, there is no offensive bonus — the Artifact does nothing.
Infected buildup is already killing you
Doubling an already dangerous status is the wrong direction when Infected is the threat.
You cannot reliably avoid status sources
If Mold attacks keep landing, the doubled buildup punishes every mistake harder.
Raw survival is the main problem
Bug Spray adds no defense or sustain, so it cannot fix a fight you are losing to damage.
Your target is not verified as Mold
Do not assume the bonus applies to an enemy whose family is unconfirmed.
Another Artifact gives broader value
When a slot must cover several enemy types, a Mold-only bonus is the wrong pick.
Mold-Enemy Matchups
Value scales with Mold density, not a flat score.
There is no single number for how good Bug Spray is in an encounter. What matters is how many targets are verified Mold and how much Infected pressure the fight applies. A Mold-dominant fight with manageable status risk is the ideal case; a fight with almost no Mold never activates the Artifact.
- No Mold targets
No verified trigger. The bonus never applies; only the Infected vulnerability stays on Dylan.
- A few Mold targets
Medium relevance: the bonus applies only while you are hitting a Mold enemy.
- Mold-dominated encounter
High relevance, provided you can absorb the doubled Infected buildup.
Mold density is a decision aid, not a hidden score. The page gives the reason, not a fake precision value.
How to Get Bug Spray
Bought from the Central Vendor at Vendor Level III.
Bug Spray is a vendor Artifact, not a quest or exploration reward. You buy the Untapped Bug Spray from the Central Vendor once its stock reaches Vendor Level III, then craft it into the usable Artifact at the Artifact Formation.
- 1 · Reach Vendor Level III
Upgrade the Central vendor until its stock reaches Vendor Level III.
- 2 · Buy the Untapped Bug Spray
Current vendor references list the Untapped Bug Spray at 1,000 Source.
- 3 · Craft at the Artifact Formation
Turn the Untapped Artifact into the usable Bug Spray before you equip it.
Central Vendor
Bug Spray sits behind a vendor tier, so the real gate is upgrading the Central vendor rather than finding a hidden location.

Vendor Level III is not a player level
The requirement is the vendor's stock tier, not your character level and not a zone level. Upgrade the Central vendor until Vendor Level III stock is available, then buy the Artifact.
The vendor, the level requirement and the 1,000 Source price are cross-supported by current references. The how-the-vendor-works details and the full inventory live on the vendor page, not here.
Artifact Formation
Untapped Bug Spray to usable Artifact.
Buying the vendor item gives an Untapped Bug Spray, which is not equipped directly. Take it to the Artifact Formation to turn it into the usable Bug Spray. Until you craft it, the Artifact has no effect in combat.
- 1 · Vendor purchase
The Central Vendor sells the Untapped Bug Spray.
- 2 · Artifact Formation
Craft the Untapped Artifact at the Formation.
- 3 · Equip
Equip the finished Bug Spray in a Loadout slot.
The exact Formation materials are confirmed against the shipped game before they are published. Treat the untapped-to-usable step as fixed; treat the material list as unverified.
Bug Spray FAQ
- What does Bug Spray do?
- It gives +30% Damage and +30% Falter against Mold enemies, but Dylan receives twice as much Infected buildup.
- Where do you get Bug Spray?
- Buy the Untapped Bug Spray from the Central Vendor after its stock reaches Vendor Level III; current vendor references list it at 1,000 Source.
- Does Bug Spray work against every enemy?
- No. The bonus only applies to targets verified as Mold in the enemy data. Against other enemies it adds nothing.
- Does Bug Spray increase Damage and Falter?
- Yes. Current references consistently describe +30% Damage and +30% Falter against Mold enemies, applied at the same time.
- Is it Blunt Damage only?
- Not confirmed. One recent vendor guide words it as Blunt Damage, while most Artifact listings say Damage. The site keeps the scope open until the production modifier confirms it.
- Does Bug Spray double Infected damage?
- No evidence for that. It modifies Infected buildup, the meter that fills toward the Infected state, not the active status damage.
- Does Face Mask cancel Bug Spray's downside?
- It counters it directly by raising Infected resistance, but without verified stacking math it is described as mitigation, not a full cancel.
- Does Worn Eraser help?
- It reduces negative-status buildup broadly, so it eases the Infected vulnerability too. The exact net buildup rate still depends on verified stacking.
- Does Bug Spray make Spore Burst stronger?
- No. Bug Spray's Infected drawback is about what Dylan receives. Effects that apply Infected to enemies go the other direction and are not strengthened.
- Bug Spray or Molding Bar?
- Both specialize against Mold. Bug Spray pays with an Infected vulnerability; Molding Bar pairs Mold offense with Infected immunity and a Health cap. The right pick depends on the encounter and on which risk you can absorb.
Bug Spray Authority
Bug Spray owns the anti-Mold tradeoff intent: its effect, the +30% Damage and Falter against Mold, the doubled Infected buildup, its comparison against Molding Bar, its mitigation options and its Central Vendor acquisition. The Mold family belongs to the enemy data, the Infected status belongs to the status system, the vendor mechanics belong to the vendor page, and the Artifact system overview lives on the Artifacts hub.
