ArtifactMolding Bar
Molding Bar is a Mold-specialization Artifact: it makes Dylan immune to Infected and raises Damage and Falter against Mold enemies, at the cost of capping Maximum Health at 50%. It is a full trade, not a free upgrade — half your Health ceiling for complete Infected protection.
Immune to Infected, with more Damage and Falter against Mold enemies.

Molding Bar Overview
Molding Bar is a target-family Artifact that trades survivability for Mold offense and complete Infected protection. While it is equipped, Dylan is immune to Infected and attacks deal more Damage and build more Falter against Mold enemies — but Maximum Health is capped at 50%, so every hit lands against a smaller pool. It is the most committed answer to a Mold encounter, and its exact Damage and Falter bonuses are confirmed against the shipped game before they are treated as fixed.
Current references agree on the shape — Infected immunity, Mold Damage and Falter, and a 50% Maximum Health cap — but they do not agree on a single Damage or Falter percentage. No number is published here as fixed.
Molding Bar Effect and Tradeoff
Complete Infected protection and Mold offense, paid for with half your Health ceiling.
Molding Bar changes three things at once: it removes the Infected threat, it raises both offensive axes against Mold, and it caps Maximum Health at 50%. Two of those are gains and one is a cost, so the Artifact is not a flat upgrade — it is a specialization you commit to.

Increased (unverified)
Maximum Health capped at 50%
A smaller Health pool, not more damage taken. Direct hits and environmental damage all land against half the ceiling.
- 1 · Immune to Infected
The Infected status is described as unable to apply while Molding Bar is equipped, so there is no buildup race to lose.
- 2 · Damage up vs Mold
Attacks against Mold enemies deal more Damage. The exact percentage is confirmed against the shipped game.
- 3 · Falter up vs Mold
The same attacks also build more Falter against Mold enemies. Damage and Falter stay separate axes.
- 4 · Maximum Health capped at 50%
The usable Health pool is reduced to half of its normal ceiling, so every mistake has less room to absorb.
The immunity, Damage, Falter and Health-cap layers are kept separate. Molding Bar is not a single 'Mold power' value, and the exact Damage and Falter percentages stay gated.
What Counts as a Mold Enemy?
Mold is an enemy family, read from the enemy registry.
Mold is the target's enemy family, not a size, a location or a look. Molding Bar's Damage and Falter bonuses only activate while the current target is in the Mold family. Infected immunity is different: it applies to Dylan regardless of the target, so a non-Mold fight still keeps the immunity and the Health cap.
Mold enemy
Mold bonus activeDamage and Falter are increased against this target.
Non-Mold enemy
No Mold bonusThe target is not Mold, so the offensive bonus does not apply. Infected immunity and the Health cap remain.
Mold is a family, not a class
Enemy family and enemy class are different dimensions. A target can be Mold and Standard, Mold and Heavy, or Mold and another class. Molding Bar keys off the family; an Artifact like Practice Knot keys off the class. Both conditions can be true on the same enemy.
Mold is not a visual guess
Do not decide from a green model or a fungus-like design. Only a target confirmed as Mold in the enemy data triggers the bonus.
Bosses and The Collective
A boss only qualifies for the Mold bonus if its registry entry is confirmed as Mold. Being located in The Park is not proof of family. Until a boss such as The Collective is confirmed Mold, treat the offensive bonus as unverified — but the Infected immunity still applies.
The confirmed Mold family list, and any boss that also counts as Mold, are published only after the enemy registry verifies them.
Infected Immunity, Not Resistance
Immunity is a different mechanic from slower buildup.
Molding Bar does not just slow Infected — it is described as making Dylan immune to it. That is a different layer from Face Mask's resistance. Resistance slows how fast the Infected meter fills; immunity is described as preventing the status from applying at all.
Infected builds up more slowly, but enough buildup still reaches the Infected state.
Infected is described as unable to apply, so there is no buildup race to lose.
What immunity does not yet answer
The word 'immune' does not define the exact runtime, so these stay unverified until the shipped game confirms them:
- Does the meter stay empty?
Whether Infected buildup stays at zero or still accumulates invisibly is not confirmed.
- Can buildup still accumulate?
It is not verified whether buildup can collect without ever activating the status.
- Does it clear existing buildup?
Whether equipping the Artifact resets buildup that is already on Dylan is not confirmed.
- Does it clear active Infected?
Whether an already-active Infected state is removed on equip stays unverified.
- What happens on unequip?
Whether removing the Artifact restores any previous buildup is not published.
The page states immunity because current references do, and keeps the implementation open. Immunity is stored as its own mechanic, never as '100% resistance', because the two may not resolve the same way.
What 'Health Capped at 50%' Means
A reduced ceiling, not extra damage taken.
Molding Bar caps Maximum Health at 50%. That is a resource cap, not a damage modifier: enemies do not hit 50% harder, and your current Health is not simply described as halved. The usable Health pool is reduced, so you have less room for mistakes.
Maximum Health
Cap
50%
Not the same as +50% damage taken
Capping the pool and increasing incoming damage are different math. A cap lowers the ceiling; a damage increase raises each hit. Molding Bar is described as the former.
It does not trigger Low-Health Artifacts by itself
A 50% cap does not mean you are below a 25% Low-Health threshold. Mother's Locket and Medical Alert Bands still need Health below their own threshold; the cap only reduces the pool they operate in.
Healing is limited by the lower ceiling
Healing sources such as the 1996 Commemorative Coin and Lost Prescription cannot exceed the effective maximum. The exact clamping behavior is confirmed against the shipped game.
The exact timing of the cap, and whether current Health is clamped or recalculated on equip, stays unverified.
Molding Bar vs Bug Spray
Two Mold specializations, two different risks.
Both Artifacts specialize against Mold, but they pay in opposite ways. Bug Spray keeps normal Health potential and accepts a higher Infected risk; Molding Bar removes the Infected threat and accepts a smaller Health pool. The useful question is not which is stronger, but which risk your build can absorb.
| Aspect | Molding Bar | Bug Spray |
|---|---|---|
| Target | Mold enemies | Mold enemies |
| Damage | Increased vs Mold (unverified) | +30% vs Mold (reported) |
| Falter | Increased vs Mold (unverified) | +30% vs Mold (reported) |
| Infected | Immunity | Buildup received ×2 |
| Main cost | Maximum Health capped at 50% | Status vulnerability |
| Acquisition | The Park Vendor | Central Vendor III |
| Price | 1,000 Source | 1,000 Source |
| Philosophy | Extreme specialization | Aggressive risk |
The two costs are different resources — status risk against Health pool — so the comparison is a decision, not a ranking. Exact Damage and Falter values stay unverified.
Not the same kind of tradeoff
Other Artifacts also pair a bonus with a cost, but the cost sits on a different axis. Reading them as the same 'offense for downside' trade would hide what actually changes.
- Face Mask
Infected resistance: buildup slows. It shares Molding Bar's target status but not its mechanic.
- Worn Eraser
Broad negative-status resistance. It still protects Burn and other statuses that Molding Bar ignores.
- Mother's Locket
A Low-Health condition: Damage up while Health is low. The 50% cap does not trigger it on its own.
Molding Bar vs Face Mask
Immunity against resistance — the clearest status-defense comparison.
Face Mask slows Infected buildup; Molding Bar is described as preventing Infected entirely. They target the same status from different layers, so Face Mask's Infected resistance appears largely redundant while Molding Bar's immunity holds.
Face Mask
Resistance: Infected builds up more slowly, but enough buildup still activates it.
Molding Bar
Immunity: Infected is described as unable to apply, so there is no buildup to slow.
Status defense is two layers
Buildup resistance is not a weaker immunity. One slows a meter, the other is described as rejecting the status application. They are different mechanic types, which is why Molding Bar is not just 'Face Mask but stronger'.
Do not hard-code Face Mask as dead
If the immunity is complete, Face Mask adds little on the Infected axis, but it still has to be checked against equipment-family rules and the confirmed runtime. The site flags the overlap instead of declaring one Artifact useless.
Whether the two can be equipped together depends on the equipment-family registry, not on this page.
Molding Bar and Feeding Bottle
One activation path closes, the other stays open.
Feeding Bottle grants Power recovery while Dylan is Infected or Burning. Molding Bar removes the Infected route. That is a partial conflict, not a full shutdown: the Burn path is untouched, so Feeding Bottle can still activate from Burn.
Feeding Bottle's condition is an either/or
The bonus needs Dylan in one of two states. Removing one route leaves the other intact.
Infected path
Removed routeBlocked while Molding Bar grants immunity. Feeding Bottle cannot rely on Infected.
Burn path
Still worksStill available. A Burn source can still activate Feeding Bottle's Power recovery.
Do not describe Feeding Bottle as never working with Molding Bar. Only the Infected activation route is removed.
Boss Matchups and The Park Resonant
Available before the fight it is recommended for.
Current guides recommend Molding Bar for The Park Resonant, the fight that applies heavy Infected pressure and includes Mold enemies. Because it is sold by The Park Vendor, it can be bought before that encounter rather than earned after it.
The Collective
If the enemy registry confirms The Collective is Mold, Molding Bar's offensive bonus applies to it as well. Until that classification is confirmed, treat the bonus as unverified — the Infected immunity still helps regardless.
The Park Resonant
The encounter's Infected pressure is exactly what Molding Bar's immunity answers, which is why it is a common pre-fight recommendation.
The opposite timeline to Face Mask
Face Mask is a reward from defeating The Collective, so it is not available for a first clear. Molding Bar is bought beforehand, so it is available for the first attempt.
- Mold objective
The offensive bonus applies to verified Mold targets in the encounter.
- Infected pressure
Immunity removes the status threat that the fight leans on.
- First clear
Available before the fight from The Park Vendor, unlike the Face Mask reward.
A boss's location is not proof of its family. The Collective's Mold classification is published only after the enemy registry verifies it.
Is Molding Bar Worth It?
Strong for Mold specialization, costly when you need a large Health pool.
Molding Bar is worth a slot when Mold and Infected define the encounter and you can survive with a smaller Health ceiling. It is the wrong pick when you need maximum survivability, or when the fight has no Mold targets and no Infected.
Good fit when
The encounter contains many verified Mold enemies
The more Mold targets you fight, the more often the Damage and Falter bonuses apply.
Infected is the encounter's biggest problem
Complete Infected immunity is strongest where the status, not raw damage, decides the fight.
You can survive with a reduced Health ceiling
If half the Health pool is still enough to absorb the fight's hits, the tradeoff costs little.
You value Damage and Falter together
Molding Bar is one of the few Artifacts that raises both offensive axes at once.
You are preparing for The Park Resonant
It is a common pre-fight recommendation and is buyable before the encounter.
You want complete Infected protection
Immunity removes the status entirely, rather than only slowing its buildup.
Lower value when
The encounter has few or no Mold enemies
With no Mold target, only the immunity and the Health cap remain — the offense does nothing.
Direct burst damage is your biggest problem
Molding Bar adds no defense against raw damage, and the smaller pool makes bursts more dangerous.
Environmental chip damage is dangerous
A 50% Health ceiling leaves less margin for hazard and chip damage.
Your build relies on a large Health pool
Builds that spend or scale with Health lose the most from the cap.
Infected is not present
If nothing applies Infected, the immunity is dead weight and only the cap remains.
You only need light Infected protection
When Face Mask's slower buildup is enough, there is no reason to pay the Health cap.

Molding Bar FAQ
- What does Molding Bar do?
- It makes Dylan immune to Infected, increases Damage and Falter against Mold enemies, and caps Maximum Health at 50%.
- Where do you get Molding Bar?
- Buy the Untapped Molding Bar from The Park Vendor for 1,000 Source, then craft it at the Artifact Formation.
- Does it need Vendor Level III?
- Current vendor inventories do not label Molding Bar as a Level III-only Artifact, unlike Bug Spray. The exact tier stays unverified rather than assumed.
- Is Molding Bar resistance or immunity?
- Immunity. Face Mask uses resistance, which only slows Infected buildup. The two are different layers, so Molding Bar is not just a stronger Face Mask.
- Does Molding Bar remove existing Infected?
- Current references only support immunity, not a confirmed cleanse. Whether equipping it clears existing buildup or an active Infected state is not published.
- Does Molding Bar work against every enemy?
- No. The Damage and Falter bonuses apply only to targets verified as Mold. Infected immunity applies regardless of the target.
- How much Damage and Falter does it add?
- Current references agree that both increase against Mold but do not give a single consistent percentage. No exact number is published here until the shipped game confirms it.
- Is Molding Bar better than Bug Spray?
- Not simply better or worse. Bug Spray keeps your normal Health potential and accepts more Infected buildup; Molding Bar removes Infected and caps Maximum Health at 50%. You are choosing which risk your build can absorb.
- Does Molding Bar stop Feeding Bottle from working?
- It removes Feeding Bottle's Infected activation path, but Feeding Bottle can still activate from Burn. Only one of its two routes is closed.
- Is Molding Bar good for The Park Resonant?
- It is the strongest published use case: multiple current guides recommend buying it from The Park Vendor before the fight to handle the encounter's Infected pressure.
Molding Bar Authority
Molding Bar owns the Mold-specialization intent: its effect, its Infected immunity and how it differs from resistance, its Mold Damage and Falter bonus, its 50% Maximum Health cap, its Bug Spray and Face Mask comparisons, its Feeding Bottle interaction and its The Park Vendor acquisition. The Mold family belongs to the enemy data, the Infected status belongs to the status system, the vendor mechanics belong to the vendor page, and the Artifact system overview lives on the Artifacts hub.
